The strategy of the project is as under first of all gears root survey of all 374 Leather cooperatives registered with commissioner of Cottage industries. All DRDA of Gujarat State will be involved in this project since beginning , especially for getting the data , information about BPL leather workers. After making a survey and diagnostic study minimum 80% of the BPL beneficiaries of minimum 60 working cooperatives shall be selected for training, up gradation also and over all development of leather workers around 37,400 of Gujarat State of which around 30,000 leather workers are BPL workers. They will aware about different types of training provided by renowned training institution of India.
The first step of the development will be up gradation of skill through training at No.1 institute of Asia – Central Leather Research Institute(CLRI) Chennai, for tanning while for leather articles and footwear making- Footwear Design and Development Institute(FDDI) Noida, National Institute of Design(NID), Ahmedabad and CFTI , Chennai.
After training and upgradation of skill, the cooperative will be upgraded with modern tools, equipments and machineries thereby improve their quality efficiencies, more production and can export their products.
After the stage of production a final stage of marketing need, which will be tap by sending 2 members of each 60 societies at Leather Fair, Delhi, Calcutta and International Leather Fair at Chennai. It is also proposed for their participation in exhibitions-cum-sales of the Country also. Simultaneously during second year one permanent showroom is proposed within the Gujarat at Ahmedabad or Vadodara or Surat, while another showroom outside Gujarat at Delhi or Calcutta or Hyderabad or Bangalore during 3rd year.
It is proposed that the ownership of all the assets created under this project would be of GRIMCO and GRIMCO will charge a token lease rent from the cooperatives o up to their financial stability and they start making profit . Thereafter they shall pay market rent to GRIMCO. |
