Scope of Orientation Program at Chennai
This orientation program will select product-oriented training for each cooperative and include visits to factory sites where commercially successful production is made in Tamilnadu. Business meetings will be organised with business managers.

Design Development

Special products will be designed for the range of leather being manufactured by the cooperatives to create a new market opportunities in collaboration with national Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Noida and Footwear Design and Development and Institute (FDDI) in collaboration with CLRI.
Material Bank
Design and advice for establishing a material bank at Gujarat, especially for leather chemical which are in short supply.
Buyer-Seller meets
Depending on the progress of the cooperatives, two to three buyer seller meets can be organised.
Coaching Sessions
For each cooperative, at least two coaching sessions are planned during the first six months by the tutors at works for feed back and assistance in absorbing the training programs.
Mentoring Sessions
During the first one year, each cooperative will be visited by a mentor three times and assisted in enlarging the scope of business and in mobilization of finance based on market potentials after assessment of bank ability of business.
Technology Upgradation
Experts of CLRI will visit two times a year each cooperative and provide after-training service for technology improvements if any.
Deliverables

The trainees are expected to train others in technology utilisation as well as in day -to-day technology management of the cooperatives. This being a training of trainers programme, pedagogy support systems will be primarily focussed.

Training of 100 trainers from 50 cooperatives in technology utilisation and management and to manage the cooperatives successfully.

  • Technology support suited to specific cooperatives for the product mix and investment potential (at least two products per cooperatives)
  • Manuals for technoloty applications (four types)
  • Field exposure to provide first-hand experience of opportunities for the cooperatives in Gujarat ( One week tour to representative manufacturing sites)
  • Range of products and samples for display and business prospecting ( at least ten types of samples for each cooperative)
  • Hands on training on ten types of leathers ( about 40% of contract hours)
  • Training in costing and pricing of products (10 contact hours)
  • Training in quality inspection and assessment (10 contact hours
  • Visits to India Inter5national Leather Fair at Chennai
  • A design and advisory consultancy report for establishing a material work
  • Assistance in building business contacts (two practical sessios for each trainee)
  • Buyer seller meets (two to three numbers)
  • Design and proposal for establishing a material bank at Gujarat.
  • Two visits by tutors to each cooperative during six months.
  • Two visits by technical experts from CLRI to each cooperative for assistance at works during the first year.
  • Three visits by mentors for each cooperative during the first year.
  • Impact assessment report by management consultant for mid course corrections, internal alert and
  • management decisions on investments.
